Workshops
" It is not what I know, but what I have experienced. When you experience, you understand, you apply and then you share with others. So it is not how much information can I give, but how much can I inspire through my own journey and experience to help you to experience."

Teacher Training
Yoga Therapy Toronto offers 300+ hours of in-depth study and practice over a 9 month training period. This unique Teacher Training Programme was developed from many years of direct study in India in the tradition of yoga master Sri T. Krishnamacharya.

Private Yoga Therapy Sessions

All of our sessions are taught on a one-on-one basis, unless there is a specific reason for teaching in a group setting. Instructing on a private basis allows us as Yoga Therapists to gain a deeper understanding of who you are, which will then allow us to plan specifically for your needs.

Once we understand your needs, we develop a personalized home practice that may include some of the following tools:

  • counselling

  • conscious and mindful breathing

  • appropriately sequenced and individualized physical movements

  • meditation

  • visualization

  • use of sound and mantra

  • dream yoga

  • guided ralaxation & yoga nidra

  • ... and more.

Each practice is tailored to suit your specific needs, capabilities, goals, and life circumstances. We will then teach you this personal practice (as well as provide an accompanying diagram) for you to practice on your own. A typical first consultation and yoga session lasts 90 minutes.

Vedic Chanting

Instructors: Felicia & Ante Pavlovic

Chanting the Veda-s is one of the oldest and most important practices in the Indian tradition and it continues today with great enthusiasm. Handed down from generation to generation through a process of careful listening and exact recitation, Vedic chanting brings about a state of inner silence: a moment of stillness with profound ramifications for our spiritual journeys

The Veda-s are the most ancient Indian text and the source of many of India's great philosophies. Vedic chanting is quite different from singing and from Kirtan. It consists of four notes, emphasizes precise pronunciation and is one of the best tools for developing concentration and peace of mind. It is a practice with many healing and health related benefits.

No previous experience is necessary and all are welcome.

Yoga Sutra Study & Chanting

In this pre-registered course, we will explore the basic concepts and themes presented by Patanjali and other commentators of the Yoga Sutra. Traditionally each student was first taught to chant the sutra-s, and only then did one begin to delve into the deeper meaning and understanding of this ancient philosophy.

Patanjali clearly explains how Yoga refines the quality of mind, clears negative emotions, creates positive habits and behaviours, improves our relationships, and brings forth profound spiritual experiences.

Each class will include approximately 45 minutes of chanting and the remainder will be sutra explanation and discussion as a group.
All study materials will be provided and you will be given your own copy of our Yoga Sutra chanting CD, which will allow you to practice in between sessions.
No previous experience is necessary and all are welcome.

Yoga for Kids with Anxiety
A Soft Place to Land - Yoga to help kids deal with Anxiety - facilitated by Dana Chapman:

Why Yoga?

Experts agree that anxiety is on the rise amongst children. In general, people who suffer from anxiety tend to overestimate the danger of a situation and underestimate their ability to cope. These dangers may be real or perceived and tend to be future oriented. Yoga can offer tools to help children cultivate present moment awareness, increase feelings of groundedness and confidence, and help release tension held in their bodies.

The goal of this class is to offer, over a series of 3 classes, both a soft place to land each week where a sense of rest and relaxation can be experienced, as well as, a “toolbox” for children to make use of when they find themselves in anxiety provoking situations.

As both a classroom teacher, yoga instructor, and yoga therapist, Dana Chapman brings a skill set that will allow children to drop into a safe space each week. This topic is near and dear to her heart and all participants will be treated with kindness and compassion as they explore the gifts of yoga and mindfulness for themselves.

This workshop is intended for children between 8 to 12 years of age.

Dates: 3 Saturdays - May 25 / June 1 / June 8
Time: 12pm to 1pm
Cost: $60 (tax included)
